Sports: A Sine Qua Non In a Professional’s Life
The sedentary lifestyle is not something unknown to us. Sticking to a chair and staring at the computer for 10 hours is a routine that keeps our time rolling. Though the pandemic has created many remote opportunities, the problem persists. Working for long hours sitting at the same place also gives birth to various diseases such as chronic joint pains, obesity, heart disease, and diabetes. As per a study, people who spend more than 75 percent of their time are susceptible to a health problem.
Professional life is incomplete without indulging oneself in leisure activities. Taking frequent breaks at work is not the solution to this. People who work in the IT sector constantly log in their work time through work snaps; going for a break might cost them their job. So, what’s the solution to this?
Taking up a sport can be a viable solution. I will explain this briefly as we proceed ahead further.
Workout every body part
Indulge yourself in any sport like badminton, cricket, or football. Your muscles will contract and retract. The blood will keep running through your body. Moreover, when the heart rate increases, you burn calories. It makes your body flexible and reduces ailments.
Increase Productivity and Focus
When you sit at the same place for a prolonged period, the blood flow stops. It hampers your creativity and your performance. The blood vessels send more oxygen to your brain cells. As a result, you become more productive. It also helps you to focus on your performance.
Teamwork
A sport encourages you to work on your team working capabilities. The dynamics of team building inculcate team player abilities in a person. The management lesson you learn here helps you to grow in professional life.
Work-life balance
When you take a break from your work, you devote all the time to yourself. It might be spending time with your kids in a playground. Playing a game of cricket helps you to recharge yourself. At the same time, you also enjoy the leisurely time. These small moments of happiness create memories. Hence, you feel a new zest for life. This short break from your work helps you focus and set professional goals for yourself.
Our body is like a temple. It is necessary to worship it by taking care of it. When you play a sport, your body functions properly. It gives you energy and spirit. It helps you not only to stay fit but also makes you a better human being. Corporate life is tough with strict deadlines and urgent deliveries. If you can find some time from your strict work schedule and devote it to playing a sport, there is nothing better than that.
